A tradition started during World War I, tank crews endured long tours of duty in the unforgiving environment of armored combat. Although Cold War tankers didn’t see the same major battles of the world wars, they were ready to be deployed worldwide at a moment’s notice. Often seen in vehicles like the M60, these soldiers are another iconic image of the 20th century.
